Day 10 School is going online!

Socially distanced learning is going online with my actual teachers! So my school is going to be on the computer! Yay! I love my mom, who was making me do work, but I liked Mr B. and Ms C.'s teaching better. Sorry, mom! Friday was a PD day, so no work yay. Today mom let me and my sibling have a day off, because of school starting again virtually, so we played Minecraft, made a chocolate-peppermint cake but we had no peppermint so it was really just a chocolate cake. The recipe is below. We also did a Harry Potter escape room, which was fun.  As always, I still did my math, because I'm a nerd. Stuff from today: Visit the  Hogwarts Digital Escape Room  from a Youth Services Librarian at the  Peters Township Public Library We made Chocolate Peppermint Cake . Most of the recipes that we have made come from the Special Collector's Edition of Everyday Foods from 2007 (Holiday). We have been finding the links to the recipes so that you can make them too!

Day 8 I joined the PYY!

Hello! Today I joined the zoom meeting with Out Saskatoon and it was really fun and I enjoyed it. Other than that, I did some writing, some art, some math, and instrument.  I also reached checkpoint one and passed the test in Duolingo! Quite honestly, the test was really hard. But I did it! Yay! Other than that, I also baked a blueberry crumble cake with my sibling. It was quite good.  Here's a picture of it-  And the recipe-  https://www.marthastewart.com/355517/blueberry-crumb-cake

Day 6 & 7 Bored bored bored

I'm sorry about not posting yesterday, I was really bored. I'm sure some of y'all feel the same. Nothing I did yesterday was noteworthy anyways. Today I tried to be more productive, I did some prodigy, worked on an English project we were doing at school, drew for an hour (art), did some Duolingo, took the dog for a walk and practiced Saxophone. Pretty good. Still kinda bored, but oh well, whatcha gonna do? Day 5 Start of the new week (and me running out of ideas)

Hola! It is the start of the new week of staying in my house! Yay!  Cincinnati Zoo did cheetahs today, and I have a pun hehehe... Which animal do you not play poker with? The cheat-ah! Yeah I know, I'm hilarious. Moving on.... Here is the cake that we made on Friday- In case you're wondering, it wasn't as good as it looks.                                    It was even better.                                                                                  Yeah there's none left...haha...                                                                      We ate it all in the weekend. No regrets. Anyways, I did a lot of prodigy, Duolingo and a zoom meeting with my friends to chat at 3 o'clock. Zoom is super easy to use and it's convenient for talking to large groups. Buenos dias/noches! Adios!

Day 4 A Day of Freedom!

No 'school' today, hooray!  PD day today! For me, at least. My mom, determined to make sure we didn't go insane, let us have a well-deserved no work day. So instead, we binge watched some of our favourite TV shows and are currently baking a strawberry shortcake  (link for a basic vanilla cake). I still practiced Spanish, did my instrument and walked the dog, of course. Mom wouldn't let me skimp on those parts. We also cleaned up a bit... As part of a service project we went through our books and craft supplies and are going to donate them to whoever wants them. But most importantly my mom ordered books for us! She got me and my sibling four books ! We've almost finished them, haha. It's been a great day.

Day 3 Pudding for breakfast

Today was a good day. Why?  Because we had home-made chocolate pudding for breakfast. Why did we do that?  Because we wanted to do some Home Ec.  And we felt like chocolate.  I would definitely recommend baking since we're all stuck in an introvert's dream.   Since I'm learning Spanish, I challenged my Abuela (grandma) to learn it with me since she goes to Mexico regularly, so she might actually have a use for it! Do you remember Cincinnati Zoo? Today they did a live stream on sloths, and it was adorable. There was no quiz at the end, though. Not too sad about that. My sibling had to listen to a concert for 40 minutes, so HA HA back ground music. So convenient for me. Thanks, mom, for making them sit through that! Also, the typing game, Ztype, is very stressful when you can't type without looking. Stuff from today- Berliner Philarmoniker's is offering a 30-day voucher to listen to their Digital Concert Hall. Create an account, pick a concert, and

Day 2 Fiona and Bibi

Hello 'tis my second day of these shenanigans. Today Prodigy stopped working so I only got like 10 to 20 questions done :( But I did get to do a lot of Duolingo and I think I'm getting the hang of Spanish :D "T ū  bebo agua" which translates  to "I drink water". Nice, eh? I also Facetimed with my grandma to ask her some questions about her experience when she went to The Great Wall Of China. Plus, of course, some band, physical activity (bleh), and typing. And this thing called Cincinnati zoo live stream. It was on hippos. Basically it was a 20-ish minute video on hippos with a small test at the end. Only thing was that it was on Facebook (used my mom's account, alternative directions below) and to do the small test you needed to enter your email (for a contest). Stuff from today: Look for  Cincinnati Zoo Live Stream on Facebook or check out this news article to watch a video on Fiona and Bibi from March 17, 2010.  Take the quiz once you w

Day 1 of my socially distance learning journey

Hi! Welcome to my life of being quarantined/lock downed/social distanced but still having to do school work because nothing is more important than education, right?  Yeah, okay. So first day, motivation is small, but we're all good, so I did some jot notes on the Great Wall of China, watched a video on it, did a virtual field trip of it, (both of which are underneath), did some unrelated English ( Dreamscape ) and Math ( Prodigy ). AND guess what? It's only lunch. My afternoon plan is practicing my instrument (band), learning how to crochet (life skills), walking the dog (physical education), learning Spanish on Duolingo , then a typing course . Ha... What fun this is. Stuff today- The Great Wall of China.  (n.d.)  https://www.thechinaguide.com/destination/great-wall-of-china . World Heritage: Acropolis & Great Wall [Video file]. (2008).
